Arlington Parent Resource Center presents Supporting Your Child's Transition from Preschool to Kindergarten
Morning Session: January 10, 2013 from 10:00am to 11:30am

Evening Session: February 4, 2013 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Parents/guardians are invited to join us to discuss the transition of preschool students with disabilities to kindergarten. This session will provide an overview of the transition process and special education programs; and information on the important role families play in their child's transition from preschool to elementary school.
Registration is requested, and assists us in planning for an adequate number of materials. Register online.

As an educational researcher and PhD candidate in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, I am conducting research to examine cyberbullying from the perspective of teens in grades 6 -12. The information from this research may be utilized to increase awareness and help in the development of preventative strategies.
If you are interested in participating, I would like to invite you to share your experiences in a brief parent survey, and ask permission for your child to participate in a personal interview concerning cyberbullying.

Formed Families Forward January Training
Formed Families Forward invites families and professionals to our January training.
Monday, January 14, 2013, 7 pm (inclement weather date is January 28, 2013)
Presenters: Mary Owen, LCSW; JoAnn Kennedy, OTR/L, and Amy Peterson, MSW
This interactive seminar will educate participants about attachment disorders in children that can result in disruptive behaviors at home or in the classroom. Additionally, participants will learn about sensory integration and its importance in emotional regulation and classroom success. Distinctions will be drawn between clinical and school based occupational therapy. The relationship between attachment disorders and sensory integration dysfunction will be explored. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
