[ArlingtonASIS] FREE behavior intervention assistance for families

[ArlingtonASIS] FREE behavior intervention assistance for families

All counties in Virginia should have some form of FREE behavior intervention assistance for families. Who provides that assistance may differ depending on the age of the individual who needs that assistance. In Fairfax County, it is provided by the Intensive Care Coordination (ICC) Team of the Community Services Board (CSB) for individuals under age 18. The CSB can be reached at 703 246-2556. It is provided under the Systemic Therapeutic Assessment Respite Treatment (START) team for individuals age 18 and older. The START team in Northern Virginia is funded through the Easter Seals at this time and can be reached at 571 409-0377 or 919 943-7585.
If any family is facing behavioral challenges by an individual with any form of autism or any mental health condition, they should contact the appropriate team or their school social worker, who should be able to provide assistance. Behavioral challenges do not get better on their own and can get far worse as the individual gets older, taller, heavier, stronger, and faster. I would strongly encourage you to get this free assistance, since the earlier these challenges are dealt with, the better for everyone involved. Once you make contact with the appropriate agency, do not stop until you actually receive some form of assistance.
