Youth Leadership Forum:
Are you a rising Junior or Senior in high school? Youth Leadership Forum is a unique leadership program for high school students with a disability. If selected to participate you will spend 5 days on a college campus and participate in leadership training activities, explore career and life goals, network, develop information resources, and explore the latest assistive technology. The Virginia Board for People with Disabilities covers all YLF expenses. The deadline to receive applications is 5:00 p.m. on March 29, 2013. Interested in further developing your leadership skills? Partners in Policymaking:
Are you the parent or guardian of a child with a developmental disability? Join other parents and self advocates one weekend a month from Sept.2013-May 2014. During PIP’s monthly training sessions (one Fri. and Sat. a month all expenses paid), you will learn about several different topics that impact your child’s life including but not limited to: interacting with legislators, the special education system, Medicaid waivers, employment, independent living, and being the best advocate you can be. The deadline for receipt of applications is 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2013.
